One of Prague’s smallest medieval churches occupies a surprisingly large position on the map.

A small Romanesque rotunda is described by Prague City Tourism as the exact centre of an old Prague ‘urban cross’.
Begin with an 11th-century building
The rotunda stands close to the Vltava at the corner of Karoliny Světlé and Konviktská streets. Prague City Tourism dates its origin to the end of the 11th century, although its first surviving written mention comes from 1365.
Draw the cross through Prague
Prague City Tourism describes the rotunda as standing at the exact centre of an old Prague ‘urban cross’. One axis links it with St Vitus Cathedral and the Rotunda of St Longin. The other connects the Church of St Clement with the former Church of St Philip and St Jacob at today’s Arbesovo náměstí.
Keep geometry and interpretation separate
The city source calls the position ‘supposedly magical’. The alignment is a useful observation; claims about why medieval builders created it need separate evidence. That boundary is what makes the story work: the geometry is the anchor, mystical interpretation is the layer added on top.
